The Real Solution to the Forest Hills School Deficit At the November 1st school board meeting, the Board discussion included three members commenting on the viability of a levy due to the great story FHSD has to tell.

The Real Solution to the Forest Hills School Deficit
Cut the Salaries – Not the Teachers
The fiscal problems within our school district mimic that of every other public school district; labor and benefit costs are out of control! No levy or non-salary cuts are going to solve our problem. The Forest Hills School District (FHSD) needs to live in the same economic times in which we live.
Forest Hills School Levy – Know the Facts Before Your Vote!
Salary and benefit costs are out of control! See Forest Hills School District personnel salaries and benefits here, keeping in mind that most of the salaries listed are for teachers’ contracts of 185 days http://content.clearchannel.com/cc-common/mlib/1209/01/1209_1326496603.pdf.
Here it is in a nutshell….
Here is a really good way for the layman to understand what happened to our economy and what caused your house value to plummet…. There are many to blame here, but the top two who should be in jail are Barney Frank and Chris Dodd… Anyway think about it this way..
You’ve heard the OWS people are the same as you and I. Let’s see….
Not to mention the police cost to finally evict these trolls. Please don’t confuse the issues by comparing us to these lawless hounds.
This is what they should be called…. There is no comparison between the two groups and any discussion of such is pointless.
Ok. The voters have spoken. Issue 2 has failed and now we all have to deal with the consequences.. Please remember next spring or fall when you have a school levy or hospital levy…. Perhaps then, when there is the cry of “it’s for the children” and there will be that cry, you remember the way our nurses, teachers and public employees chose to vote. I will certainly be advocating a NO vote on all levies. If they take away our tools to cut spending then I say take away their ability to raise our taxes. Levies are taxes people. Nicer name, but same thing. And when you see the sign, it won’t raise your taxes, replace that with, it will lower your taxes if it fails. It is time for our public employees to see the ramifications of this action. I feel bad for those that will be laid off starting next year, I really do. They have only the remaining workers of their union to thank. Nuff said.
Update…. Middletown lays off 9 firemen… and police… wow, that wasn’t supposed to happen without sb5. I wonder how these poor guys feel now that they realize they were used. Don’t come crying to me, we told you so.
This is one of the best explanations we’ve seen about the country’s financial woes. First, the real numbers for 2011 (2010 numbers in parenthesis):
U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000 (2,381,000,000,000)
Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000 (3,552,000,000,000) that’s right we spent more being austere
New debt: $1,650,000,000,000 (1,171,000,000,000)
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cut: $38,500,000,000
